That's blown it

A trail of oil, yesterday.I knew in advance that a 15 year old 3.0 V6 wouldn't be the most economical of engines to run, but the lazy nature appealed for the long journey ahead. While I can just about cope with the fuel economy - and I'm getting an average of just 21 mpg so far - I am left somewhat stunned by the oil economy.

As I drive, I leave a long trail of oil behind me. Useful for those occasions where I'm being chased by the fuzz after doing a job down the bank, but expensive otherwise. Investigations suggest that it's a problem with the rocker gasket on both banks of cylinders.

As adept as I am with a spanner, the precision required for this job is a little beyond me, so it's off to local specialists ASAP for repairs.

The two cars have cost me a total of £151. What are the odds of the repairs costing more?
